VR Tools in the Classroom
VR Tools in the Classroom
I have never experienced any type of VR in the classroom environment nor have I ever heard of using VR in any way in the classroom environment. When asked to do research and write a blog post about a VR tool in the classroom I felt lost because I had no idea it was a thing. So when I went to google the first thing that came up was Google expeditions. When entering the website you see that they focus on trips around the world and the human body. You can search by subject on what expedition you want to take your students on. You can search for expeditions in the arts, science, history, and more!
This program is built for teachers mostly as they have slides to help teachers learn how to use the website for their students. I do think anyone can access this website and the expeditions, they even offer opportunities to help students become VR creators. They recommend students in grades 3 and up use these google expeditions because headsets are not recommended for ages under 7.
This tool is beneficial because it encourages and allows immersive and fun trips to so many places and offers chances to view places in a different way than if they didn't have the expedition. It is free to use and offers chances for teachers to learn so there is no discouragement or learning curve that would prevent them from using it.
Hey! I agree that I have never had any type of VR related stuff in the classroom. I think it is interesting about what came up when you googled VR as it seems that is what most people use VR for. I also think this would be a fun thing to introduce to a class room as I feel kids would have fun and learn with it.
